Archeological evidence suggests that people have been fishing in the Takahama area since the Jomon Period (14,000 and 300 BC). Over time connection to the ocean has become an important part of Takahama’s rich history and culture. The Takahama Fishing Museum exhibits many traditional fishing tools and equipment as well as information on how Takahama’s local fishing culture evolved throughout the ages.
