On the eastern-facing slope of the coastline of Uchiura Bay are the Hibiki terraced rice fields, selected as one of the best 100 terraced rice fields in Japan. About 200 rice paddies are spread across the narrow slope facing the bay. For centuries locals have preserved their terraced field rice agriculture allowing visitors to view this traditional form of farming.
