How to Take the Train from Wakasa-Takahama Station to Osaka (via Kyoto)

What Tickets Do You Need?
1. A Basic Fare Ticket (乗車券/Jōshaken)
Please buy this at Wakasa Takahama Station

2. A Limited Express or Rapid Train Ticket (特急券 / Tokkyūken)
This ticket cannot be bought at Takahama.
Please buy it on the train after reaching Higashi Maizuru or at at your transfer station (Higashi‑Maizuru, Kyoto, Osaka) via staff or express-ticket machines.

Route Explanation
1. At Wakasa Takahama Station, buy a Basic Fare Ticket (乗車券/Jōshaken) to your final destination, Osaka. It should be about 3080 yen.

2. At Wakasa‑Takahama Station, board the Obama Line at PLATFORM 2 toward Higashi‑Maizuru.
3. At Higashi‑Maizuru, transfer to the JR Maizuru Limited Express (Maizuru or Hashidate) toward Kyoto.
3. Arrive at Kyoto Station in approximately 2–3 hours, depending on connections.
4. At Kyoto Station:
- Locate Platform 4 or 5 for JR Kyoto Line trains heading toward Osaka, Takatsuki, and Kobe.
- During rush hours, trains may also depart from Platform 6.
5. Board the Special Rapid:
- Look for signs like 新快速 or Special Rapid.
- These stop at fewer stations and travel faster than regular local or rapid services.
