Takahama is blessed with delicious fresh seafood. There are also many preserved seafood delicacies which are a great way to enjoy the flavors of Wakasa at home, too. Enjoy a wide variety of dried seafood, preserved mackerel (heshiko) and rice-fishcakes (kome kamaboko).

Traditional delicacies
Fukui prefecture has always been praised for its rice quality, and Takahama has lots of varieties to choose from. Visit the local store 'Senariya', which produces its own original soy sauce made with traditional brewing techniques, and their own miso paste (moromi) seasoned with the Japanese citrus yuzu. Another local delicacy are "Ecchan's pickles", made from her home-grown vegetables and lightly seasonal with salt.
